Keyword Research Services - Read My In Depth Test Of One

If you aren’t a guru then you may (like me) find keyword research difficult. Actually I can find loads of keywords. My problem is finding good keywords.

I always believed that Google’s keyword tool gave highly accurate results. Why wouldn’t I? Big company like that shouldn’t be giving false figures. Well, that’s not always the case.

What you see (the data) is not what you get. But it probably was at the time they put it together. I discovered the answer almost by pure chance.

I went for a key phrase with around 5,000 pages competing against it. I was pretty sure I could get a good result with that keyword. I started churning out articles by the bucket load.

Pretty soon I noticed over 9000 competitors. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? I was relieved to see that an awful lot of these competitors were showing my articles.

My point being is that I’d have swerved this keyword if I had seen nine thousand competitors. A lot of these sites were ranking with my article so I had a lot of competition but most of it was my own articles. A win win situation if you ask me.

I got lucky on that keyword but I suspected I may not get lucky again so I made the decision to try out a keyword research service. Getting a daily list of quality keywords sent is something that appeals to me. I calculated the cost against the time it would take me and it seemed a value for money concept.

There were a few to choose from but I went with Travis Sago and his Instacash service. Let’s face it, Travis is THE bum marketer. And bum marketing really appeals to me.

One or two good quality keywords delivered each day could save me hours of time. An hour or two of my time is highly valuable to me when all I have is time. If I put the time saved up against the daily cost it shows clearly there’s value to be had.

I get a lot of emails from gurus banging on about outsourcing. I reckon there’s not much difference here. I’m giving my keyword research to someone else to do. That’s outsourcing.

Do you wanna know how it went with the Instacash service? Get on over to my website and I’ll tell you. I said earlier about how I got loads of articles published for my chosen keyword. I’ll show you how I did that at my site.

Doing On Page Optimization

The Key To Successful Website Optimization

On page optimization is really a simple process. To summarize, make sure you’re selecting a keyword that people are actually searching, use your free Google keyword tool to do it, once bolded and once italics and once with the keyword in a link. Put a keyword in a link on the page. Sometimes I’ll link to the page itself. If I am optimising a page for wine supplies, one of these wine supplies I may make it a link and link it through to its own page. I don’t know if that has a huge effect, but I do know that Google looks for links. This is basically simple SEO.

If we have a link with the keyword on it, we’re effectively calling Google and telling it to look over here, and Google is saying, it has the keyword, so this part must be about the keyword. But that’s like bolding and italics, it’s not make or break, but it is good practice. Pick one keyword, make sure your secondary keywords are on topic and related and a variation. Make sure your title tag is short and punchy. If you’re having trouble coming up with titles, go to Amazon. Use between three and five words. Your meta description should be between two and three sentences. Again a good place is Amazon, because Amazon will have a little description of the book. Be careful when you’re copying it out because you don’t want to infringe copyright, so change it slightly. The h1 tag should be slightly longer, between four and seven words is fine. The contents of the page should be between three and six hundred words.

Make sure you use the keyword early and often, usually once or twice in the first paragraph, sprinkle it throughout. These numbers apply to a page of about six hundred words. If it was less you would use the keyword three to four times and if it was more, say nine hundred word, you might use the keyword five or six times. Don’t spend hours trying to get your on page optimisation right. It can be easy to get caught up in the detail. Sometimes you can get better return for your time by quickly optimising a page and then going on to a second page.

It’s recommended to have two pretty good optimised pages than one extremely well done. The reason for that is we don’t know what a perfectly optimised page is. Because nine times out of ten it’s better to throw out more pages, as long as you’re following good practice.

One thing to consider is that twenty percent of your ranking factors are going to be on page optimisation. If you want to learn more, take up SEO training.
