Work from Home With These Smart Ideas

Choosing to sell products on the internet is one of the best ways to earn money working from home. This is particularly good for people who are able to deliver their products in digital format such as digital art, written content, software applications or any type of digital resources.

One of the biggest opportunities for working from home has been the growth of the website Ebay. The site has given rise to an army of entrepreneurs all plying different businesses that they are able to sustain with very little overhead costs.

Marion Walsh is an interesting case of someone who started a home business using Ebay. Marion is a teacher by profession but after she got married and had children, she decided that it was better for her to stay home and work rather than find childminders for her children. Marion also had desktop publishing skills and this together with her teaching skills enabled her to make money online and establish a very successful business.

Marion started to produce resources for teachers and students. She created study packs, lesson notes, wall charts and an assortment of games and activities used for teaching children. Each product was created in design software and then published in PDF format for simple distribution. Marion’s business had the added benefit that she was able to deliver her products to buyers digitally. The documents were attached to emails and sent out without the need for printing and postage costs.

A similar home business was run by Robbie Needham who, due to a previous injury, was no longer able to run his car service garage. Robbie decided to pursue his other passion which was photography and collecting old photographs of people and architecture.

Robbie was most interested in architecture and people at work. He began creating photo collections that focused on particular cities in England. The collections included his own photos as well as collections of old photos he’d scanned from postcards. The collections were put on CD’s and sold on Ebay. The business proved very successful enabling Robbie to eventually travel to different cities throughout Europe to create his city studies.

Cameron Tilley found himself working from home purely by chance. He worked in the city for a firm of business consultants. Cameron had a spare time passion for 3D art and spent hours on his creations using a specific software application. He belonged to online forums where other enthusiasts gathered to share their work and ideas. Some of the forums have market places in which users were able to sell objects they’d created in 3D. To Cameron’s surprise there was significant demand for his creations and they sold at very good prices. He was soon able to quit work in the city and set up his own website which is a very successful resource centre for 3D artists.

If you do not create products for sale you can still be very successful on the internet producing information to be read. Tricia Frampton gave up work as a hairdresser to make money blogging by focusing on her online blogs and websites about hair. One of her blogs discussed the hair of the rich and famous. This particular blog was hugely popular with online readers and her site became one of the most sought after commentaries on designer hairstyles. The advertising revenue Tricia earned from her blog was enough to encourage her to devote herself to full time internet writing and marketing.
